( Want some cheese? | had a beer.)

Hello [10 Jul 2006|12:37pm]

XD What a fun idea.

I just had to join this commuinty. *dances*

My name is Kerri. I'm originally from West Allis, WI, where I lived for 21 years, until January of 2005 when I married an airman and consiquently had to move out to montana. *I wanna go home now please*
I attended classes at UWM for 2 years. Most of that time was spent in the back of the class room/bus/anywhere I found space drawing anime.
I've loved sailor moon since I was a sophmore in highschool. I remember watching it back in the second grade and thinking Tuxedo Mask was hot XD.

if you cosplay and are in Wisconsin you might wanna check out moon_lightdream

Moonlight Dreamers are a cosplay troupe from the Midwest. Most of us are located in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area, though we're scattered around a bit. Right now we're focused on Sailor Moon as a group, but we all have our own individual cosplays that may branch away from the senshi.

We are still looking for:
Sailor Saturn
Sailor Star Fighter
Tuxedo Mask

^_^ ♥

Say... [17 Apr 2005|02:32am]

Since a lot of you are UWM students...

Is there an Anime club with regular showings on weeknights?

Are there rooms/lounges with televisions stashed somewhere that could be used for a group meetup/SM marathon? :D

Why did this come about? [05 Apr 2005|10:04pm]

Hello all..  I am the creator of sailormoon_wi, Ademu.. or Adam if you actually were to talk to me in everyday life.  Why did I feel we needed a Sailor Moon LJ community for the Wisconsin area?  Because I want more friends that understand my obsession.  That's why.

It all started one fateful September Saturday morning.  I was eating Honey-Nut Cheerios, and sitting at my grandpa's house and I was watching Saturday morning cartoons on Fox Kids (channel 24 in the Milwaukee Area)  I saw the episode, "Return of Sailor Moon,"  which I didn't know why they chose this episode. I began to think that it was a failed show coming back for more.  I then wrote down the show title, because I didn't think I would remember it, and looked in the TV guide to see when and if the show was ever going to be on again.  I was in semi-luck.  It was going to be on every weekday.  The bad part was it was on at 6:30 AM.  Now I had never woken up that early for anything... but Sailor Moon.  (up until that time in my life) I then got all the girls and younger boys in the neighborhood into the show.  Especially Jaimie, Tiffany... and :::drum rolls::: Stephanie.  LOL.  We all loved the show like no other.  Stephanie was the one who got into it the most.. (!!!)  She even started telling everyone in the neighborhood what role in Sailor Moon they played.. LOL.. Apparently Tiffany was Sailor Jupiter and Jaimie was Sailor Venus.  Some girl named Courtney was dubbed Mercury, and this guy Zach whom everyone had a crush on... was in on it somehow.  Anywho.. I was cursed with being called Melvin..  -_-;  I hated that.  for some reason.. I wanted to be Sailor Mercury.  (embarrassing part of my past up on LJ.. YAY!!)  There were "shaddows in the toolshed"  and many Sailor Moon Dances made for the talent shows at the elementary school.  It was fun.  Stephanie and I would every so often sit in her back yard in chairs saying.. "those were the days."

In eighth grade my mom even tried to ban me from watching Sailor Moon, in fears that it might make me gay.  (!)  I am pretty sure that wasn't what did it.  LOL.  Anywho.. for years I was on the Sailor Moon Downlow.  Sailor Moon happened in secret at my house.  ALOT!  Sometimes I even faked sick and such just so i could watch one episode and have my fix.  Sailor Moon was so more important than highschool.  And in the summer.. a few all nighters were spent staying up until Sailor Moon was over on USA (at 8AM)  by the time I was a JR in highschool... my mom accepted my moonieness and just stopped trying to keep me away from it.  I swear... keeping a moonie away from Sailor Moon.. is like keeping insulin from the diabetic.

O Sailor Moon how much of a part you've played in my life.

In High School I  started out as that boy everyone thought couldn't speak.  I had no friends in school.. Stephanie was pretty much my only friend.  She was the only one who understood this really awesome unhealthy obsession.  I soon made friends in school... and they asked me "What stuff do you like?"  I said.. "Sailor Moon."  Which immediately labeled me as a geek, because it is an Anime.  As the years went on I found other Moonies in hiding, like Adrian.  This was the year after S and SuperS have just aired on Cartoon Network.  I was soo happy when I found out more Sailor Moon was coming.. And I got to see how they handled the Sailor Uranus and Neptune fiasco.  I was much disappointed when they were incestual lesbians.  We all knew they were going at it.. and to top it off.. they were now related.  EWWW.  Anywho... I was turning 17 and I had my first job and our birthday came around... (Stephanie and mine)  and I bought her the heart collection volume 1 for her 15th birthday.  The DVD sat in my closet for about 2 weeks before i couldn't take it anymore and opened the DVD, and called it m,y own.  I had to get Stephanie a new one.. but GOD DAMN how that taunted me.  I then bought all the Sailor Moon S DVDs.. I wanted a Movie so I got the SuperS movie.. then on Amazon.. they were selling the S movie for 17.99 and I got one of those.. Started renting STARS from the local anime shop.. (hadn't seen SuperS yet)  after that I rented Fansubs of SuperS and then bought the DVDs of that.  SOmewhere in ther I bought the R movie.. and some of the DiC dubs.. (out of order of course.. (5, 6, 7, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 3, 13, 14, 2, 1)  )  Then College started and so did Ebay... found the STARS boxed set on DVD.   Got that for like $45 (smile face)  Stars Manga and some dolls were spread out from the last few years... I'm sorry I am not being chronological at all.  I worked at KB Toys when all the dolls went to $5 a piece plus my discount.. (!!)

PGSM came out October 2003.. I spent about 3 days trying to find a way to download the first episode.. after downloading the first 17 or so .. I stopped watching them.,.and then Steph started watching them and getting ahead of me.  So i started buying the boxed sets from Ebay.  HEHE.. I now have like.. 62 Sailor Moon DVDs.. out of the 46 commercially available.  LOL it gets bad sometimes.. I come down with really bad insomnia and I have to fall asleep with Sailor Moon on TV.  And even sometimes.. I even space out and watch it in my head.  I can't even begin to think about how sad all of you think i am.

I just really have nothing better to do.

Come and Introduce Yourself! [05 Apr 2005|07:02pm]

[ mood | good ]

I suppose we're gonna have to find a way to start stirring up chatter. We'll think of that as time goes on. Who am I you ask? Splendid question.

I'm Adrian and I'm a mod here at this community. So be naughty so I can start erasing things and abusing my power. Thanks in advance.
But seriously. I've been friends with Ademu and Alkrea, who started this commmunity, for years now (5 and 3 respectively) so yeah. Ademu and I actually met at the bus stop of our high school and we would talk about Sailor Moon all the time. Now here we are years later better friends than we've ever been and still talking about Sailor Moon. Ain't life grand?
I go to UWM and am an art major with a graphic design intended track. Though technically if you looked in my dream mirror you would find that I want to be a comic book artist/writer more than anything in the world. You would find that, but, sadly, no Pegasus.
And now onto my creds.
I fell in love with Sailor Moon when it played on Toonami for the first time. No, I didn't get to be super purist and fall in love with it through local TV before it hit the big time (though I did do that with Pokemon if it makes you feel any better). I eagerly awaited the remaining 17 eps and nearly died of Joygasm. And of course devotedly watched the S and Super S seasons when they came on. So I've seen all the dubbed episodes.
I own a couple of the S DVDs so have seen those eps in japanese. Along with the movies and other random episodes throughout time. Recently I watched all 12 eps of the Nehelenia arc in Japanese too (all in one sitting of course). And I saw the last couple episodes too. Just in case you really need to know how much Japanese I've seen...
Throughout those first years I also collected all the manga volumes (under the Mixx, Girl Comics, and Tokyopop labels cuz it was spread out and out of order).
I also watched all of the live action PGSM within three weeks just this past January.
Sailor Moon was my first anime. It gateway drugged me into other things like Pokemon, Gundam, and Dragon Ball Z. I love all these shows. And my interest in them comes in waves, but they always have a place in my heart. And SM for sure being my first and all!

Hopefully this makes me qualified enough to mod this place. Assuming we ever start raisin' the roofs around these parts that is.

I'll think you'll find that I'm also quite long-winded. Maybe. :p

Sneaks in behind Beata [04 Apr 2005|08:40am]

[ mood | curious ]

Brrr... I had this thought, Usagi wouldnt' last two minutes in cold cold wisconsin.

Konnichiwa! My name is Carri - and i've lived in Wisconsin for my whole life. I was dragged hear by Beata.
I've liked Sailormoon since it first aired on Super18. I even remember the commercials promoting it and asking, "What the hell is this trash?"
Than one day i ended up turning it on and the SailormoonR episode where the Senshi have the face of with the 4 Sisters. And i was hooked!!! I also wanted Rubius so bad. (I'm over him now)

My favorite season is SailorStars - seconded by "S" and than the original.

My favorite character is Salior V - but i'm really starting to like Mercury now. I used to be so so about her.

A quick introduction [03 Apr 2005|06:50pm]

I'm Alex.

I attend UWM and am originally from Appleton. I make an annual pilgrimmage to Acen(I'm already pledged to an X/1999 cosplay group, but am not adverse to a meetup).

I first saw SM eight years ago, but only got into it during my freshman year of college. I'm a huge fan of Haruka and Michiru(and an unrepentent yuri fanboy), though I like all the protagonists of the show. I also adore Revolutionary Girl Utena, Boogiepop Phantom, Elfen Lied, and Ayashi no Ceres.

[ mood | cheerful ]

Hi! I'm Milwaukee born and bred. I met Steph in school and we're still friends.

I will be Pluto in the cosplay group with her and other people whom I don't know....

My love of Sailor Moon started when they used to show it on Cartoon Network afterschool, then it kinda died off when they stopped showing it afterschool. I've always wanted to see the original versions, but have never gotten around to it, so I've only seen the crappy dubbed ones they had on TV.

Um... Yeah....

Thunder... thunder... thunder cunt! (Hey look, I match the background...) [03 Apr 2005|02:34pm]

[ mood | complacent ]

I never have the faintest clue what to say about myself in introduction posts but I will do my best. So, hi! I'm Ashley. I'm originally from Milwaukee and attend the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, majoring in Spanish, possibly ESL, and hopefull Latin American and Caribbean Studies.

My interest in Sailormoon started when I was around 14 years old but what really hooked me was my love of the first season villians. Even today my favorite anime character is Zoisite and I remain an ardent KunzitexZoisite shipper. Eventually I was able to get my hands on the subtitled versions of the show and from there my fandom grew from there.

I will also be part of alkrea's cosplay group (the group yet without a name) come May and Anime Central as Sailor Jupiter.

Yes, I am aware that the banner pimps another community. It was made by the lovely people there. And yes, I also find it hilariously ironic. :)

[ mood | accomplished ]

Welcome to sailormoon_wi, the greatest community for Sailor Moon fans in Wisconsin and the midwest. Tell all your local friends to join, as the population of us must be bigger than just 5 of us!

Anyways, the creator of this community is ademu, with alkrea and gundamheavyarms as mods. Later on, after a little discussion with the others, I will likely post a set of rules. In the mean time, promote, Promote, PROMOTE!!!!!

See you!!!
